My Story
From London to a Global Cultural Mission
I came to the UK as a student and became fascinated by how Western culture industries transform ideas into commercial experiences. This shaped my core belief: culture can become a product.
I founded the Magical Lantern Festival, then created Lightopia — a large-scale immersive light and lantern festival that grew to 15 cities, 32 events, 2.65 million visitors, and 14 BBC interviews. When the company entered administration, I used the setback as a research opportunity.
Two years studying cultural projects across China, the UK, and Europe led to a key insight: Chinese cultural creators have world-class content but lack the commercialization tools to reach international audiences. That insight became CAAP™ — Culture As A Product.
Today I run Immersia XR Walking Theatre and consult on cultural product design — helping creators build experiences that audiences around the world understand, feel, and pay for.
Culture should not only be preserved. Culture should be experienced — and it should succeed commercially on the global stage.— Ian Xia
